Organic green tea from Japan Spring harvest 2024 - Japon - Last items in stock
Grand cru
Origin: Japan - Kagoshima - Kyushu Island - Kirishima City
Species: Camelia sinensis sinensis
Cultivar: Sakimidori
Harvest: Spring 2024 - first crop
Characteristics: Unshaded
History: The Sakimidori cultivar is a cross between a tea plant native to Miyazaki prefecture and the chamoto cultivar (itself a cross between yabukita and zairai 16). It was registered in 1997.
Aromatic profile: A fairly intense tea, to be prepared more delicately than other spring Senchas. Ideal for tea lovers with character. It has a lively profile with a smooth, oily texture, developing fresh, vegetal notes supported by a slight minerality and a sweetness that lingers in the mouth, reminiscent of the freshness of carambola.
- Flavor: umami well present
- Texture: round, fatty
- Notes : Fresh vegetal, mineral (spring water), long carambola finish.
Terroir : Kagoshima prefecture is renowned for its organic teas.
Our preparation advice: Prefer very soft spring water for Japanese teas (<40mg/l dry residue). Prepare with delicacy, like a Gyokuro.
This is the tea for you if..:
- you are a lover of Japanese tea and want to explore grands crus and premium teas
- you're looking for a green tea leaf that resembles matcha
- you're looking for a refreshing green tea for hot days
