Grand cru
Origin: Guizhou province, China
Species: Camelia sinensis sinensis
Cultivar: LongJing #43
Harvest: spring 2024
Leaf shape: Buddha eyelids
Terroir : Harvested at high altitude in the wild and unspoilt province of Guizhou, this Dragon Well has been made from real tea bushes of the Longjing #43 variety, transplanted to the region at altitude some forty years ago.
The altitude, almost permanent cloud cover and abundant rainfall slowly develop leaves with concentrated aromas, and produce flat, crisp leaves with a scent of fresh grass and toasted hazelnut.
Tradition: Long Jing is one of the ten greatest teas in China, according to the Chinese. It originally comes from Hangzhou, on the shores of West Lake in Zhejiang province, a region considered by the Chinese to be proof of paradise on earth. Known since the Song dynasty, it takes its name from the Dragon Well spring discovered over 1700 years ago. The 18 tea bushes planted near the temple of the same name were reserved for the emperor's consumption. Our Long Jing primeur comes from this know-how, although it is produced in another province.
Aromatic profile: An elegant, well-balanced tea, revealing vegetal notes with a hint of raw vegetables and toasted notes, supported by a slightly sweet flavor and good persistence. It has all the makings of a great Longjing!
