Are you familiar with the Japanese art of Furoshiki?

While sipping one of our herbal teas/infusions, this workshop will give you a brief history of this beautiful technique, which consists of wrapping gifts with fabric in elegant folds. It's a technique that also promotes zero waste: the fabric can be reused from one gift to the next, or as part of the gift itself.

You'll learn 3 different folds that will give you great ideas for wrapping your Christmas presents. We'll also look at the different types of patterns found in Japanese fabrics and their meanings.

You'll leave with a square of top-quality Japanese fabric from the charming haberdashery “C'est du Joly! ” specializing in Japanese fabrics.

The workshop will be led by Florence, whom you'll probably know if you frequent our Uccle counter: as well as being part of our team, she's an experienced seamstress with a passion for Japan. The workshop requires no prior knowledge and is open to all, young and old.
