Natural mate
from Brazil
Maté is a South American beverage, widely consumed on a daily basis, particularly in Uruguay, resulting from the infusion of yerba maté (Ilex paraguariensis). Drunk since time immemorial by the Guarani Amerindians (indigenous people of the Amazon regions of Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay), it is said to have numerous virtues:
- its caffeine content makes it an energy drink, but unlike coffee, which it replaces advantageously, the release of caffeine is gradual and long-lasting thanks to the presence of theobromine.
- promotes concentration
- rich in antioxidants (even more so than green tea), minerals (iron, potassium, magnesium) and vitamins (A, B, C and E, whose presence is attested by the Instituto Nacional de la Yerba Mate in Buenos Aires, Argentina)
- appetite-suppressant effect
- ideal for athletes (healthy stimulant, fat-burning effect)
The taste of mate offers intense, highly aromatic vegetal notes, with a mild bitterness and tannic profile. Our mate is processed to limit bitterness (compared with traditional Argentine mate, for example).
Maté is drunk all day long, re-infusing the same leaves. It can be prepared as an infusion, like a tea, or using the traditional calabash and bombilla, to make the most of its flavours.

Traditional preparation: fill the calabash 2/3 full, moisten the base, leave to swell for 3-4 minutes, plant the bombilla and pour in water at 90°C. Multiple infusions.
